Overview

Digital Marketing Officer role at King’s College School Wimbledon. Salary: £28,800 - £30,500 per annum (depending on experience). Plus excellent benefits including healthcare, contributory pension scheme, free gym membership and lunch during term time.

The digital marketing officer will report to the senior marketing manager and work closely with the marketing and communications team (senior graphic designer, communications manager, and director of communications, admissions and marketing). The post holder will deliver all aspects of the school’s day-to-day social media, video and photography, and be responsible for the creation and implementation of the school’s social media activities in a timely fashion, supporting the school’s strategic objectives. The role requires delivering the highest quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Digital content creation and social media: capture photography and video reflecting our brand and values for social media, websites, emails, events, publications, and other marketing activities.
  • Create or support the creation of engaging content such as graphics and news stories.
  • Develop, populate, and shape content for the school’s websites.
  • Lead the creation of short-form videos (Reels, GIFs, vox pops, trailers) that drive engagement and are platform-focused.
  • Research, develop, and create platform-specific content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure all digital graphics, social media, screen content, and presentations align with brand identity and messaging.
  • Help develop a distinctive visual storytelling style that communicates our values and stands King’s apart for warmth, intellect, and quality.
  • Regularly collect and monitor analytics and trends on each platform.
  • Provide regular feedback to inform content strategy, encourage engagement, and boost performance.

Supporting colleagues with wider digital media

  • Livestreaming: support our in-house AV colleague with event livestreaming (mainly the speaker programme).
  • Edit and publish livestream content on platforms (YouTube, Vimeo).
  • Promote this content on social media and internal platforms to showcase activity quality and range.
  • Support colleagues with visuals for presentations (e.g., photographic slideshows).
  • Where appropriate, support pupils and colleagues with podcasting content for platform celebration.

Collaboration and community engagement

  • Work closely with department colleagues to align digital content with all activities for seamless online and offline presence.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the King’s Corporation to create content and celebrate successes (e.g., International, Development, Enterprises).
  • Support to celebrate and encourage pupil voice where appropriate.
  • Assist the senior marketing manager to ensure content created by external suppliers aligns with school values.

Compliance and asset management

  • Maintain GDPR compliance and sensitivity when capturing images of pupils and visitors.
  • Maintain organised archives of visual content; develop a photographic archive/filing system for timely use and long-term value, with GDPR-compliant logging to enable quick removal if permissions are revoked.
  • Uphold copyright and licensing standards for all media assets.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the senior marketing manager.

The ideal candidate will have the following

  • Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to pupil wellbeing.
  • Strong photography and videography skills, including editing and post-production; experience with various equipment from high-quality cameras to mobile devices.
  • Experience creating content for social media with platform-specific best practices.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, social platforms, and appropriate use of AI.
  • Ability to work independently with prioritisation to meet tight deadlines, including same-day turnaround when needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, versatile and adaptable to department needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and a creative mindset.
  • Professional and friendly demeanor as a positive role model to pupils and representative of the department/school.
  • Energetic and committed to meeting the school’s needs and maintaining high departmental performance.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Degree or equivalent training in media, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with livestreaming (or willingness to learn) and drone photography (or willingness to learn).
  • Understanding of how digital platforms engage online communities and drive website traffic.
  • Awareness of digital marketing trends and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and best practice; proficient in file sharing and storage.
