Digital Marketing Officer, KINGS COLLEGE SCHOOL
The digital marketing officer reports to the senior marketing manager and works closely with the marketing and communications team, including the senior graphic designer, communications manager and director of communications, admissions and marketing. The post holder will deliver all aspects of the school’s day-to-day social media, video and photography and be responsible for the creation and implementation of the school’s social media activities in a timely fashion to support the school’s strategic objectives. The role requires delivering the highest quality customer service.
Responsibilities
- Capture photography and video that reflects our brand and values, usable across social media, other digital activities (website, emails) and marketing activities (at events, for publications).
- Create or support the creation of engaging content such as graphics and news stories.
- Lead the development of content for the school’s websites, including populating and shaping content.
- Lead the creation of short-form videos (Reels, GIFs, vox pops, trailers) that drive engagement, reflect the brand and are platform-focused.
- Research, develop and tailor content for each platform (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure digital graphics, social media, digital screen content and image-led PowerPoint presentations align with brand identity and messaging.
- Develop a distinctive visual storytelling style that communicates the school’s values and stands Kings apart for warmth, intellect and quality.
Digital engagement
- Regular collection and close monitoring of analytics and trends on each platform.
- Provide regular feedback to the wider marketing team to inform content strategy, encourage engagement and boost performance.
Supporting wider digital media
- Livestreaming: support in-house AV colleague with livestreaming of events (mainly speaker programme).
- Editing livestream content and publishing it on platforms (YouTube or Vimeo).
- Promote this content on social media and internal platforms to showcase quality and breadth of activities.
- Support colleagues with visuals for presentations (e.g., photographic slideshows) highlighting life at King’s.
- Where appropriate, support pupils and colleagues with podcasting to capture content for sharing on platforms.
Collaboration and community engagement
- Work with department colleagues to align digital content with other activities for a seamless off‑ and online presence.
- Collaborate with other King’s Corporation departments to create content or celebrate successes (e.g., International, Development, Enterprises).
- Support, when appropriate, to celebrate and encourage pupil voice.
- Assist the senior marketing manager to ensure content created by external suppliers aligns with school values.
Compliance and asset management
- Maintain GDPR compliance and sensitivity when capturing images of pupils and visitors.
- Maintain organised archives of visual content; develop a photographic archive/filing system for timely and long-term use, including GDPR-compliant logging and easy removal of content if permissions are revoked.
- Uphold copyright and licensing standards for all media assets.
- Perform any other tasks as deemed necessary by the senior marketing manager.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to pupil wellbeing.
- Strong photography and videography skills, including editing and post-production, with experience across devices from high-quality cameras to mobile phones.
- Experience creating content for social media with platform-specific best practices.
- Proficiency in Canva, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, and effective use of social media and AI where appropriate.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines with same-day turnaround when needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively, adaptable to departmental needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and a creative mindset.
- Professional, kind and friendly demeanor and smart appearance as a positive role model.
- Energetic and committed to meeting the needs of the school and maintaining high department performance.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Degree or equivalent training in media, marketing, or related field.
- Experience with livestreaming (or willingness to learn).
- Experience with drone photography (or willingness to learn).
- Understanding of how digital platforms interact to engage the online community and drive traffic to the website.
- Awareness of digital marketing trends and visual storytelling techniques.
- Knowledge of GDPR and best practice.
- Proficient in file sharing and storage.
