About the Role

As App Marketing Director, you'll lead the end-to-end marketing strategy for Skyscanner's app, driving acquisition, engagement, and retention across global markets. You'll champion app-first thinking and deliver marketing strategies that deepen customer relationships, accelerate growth, and position our app as the best way to experience Skyscanner. This is a key leadership role requiring deep mobile marketing expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to shape both brand and performance marketing agendas. You'll work across product, design, performance, data, and brand teams to optimise every part of the app journey.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the app marketing strategy: Define and execute the global strategy for app acquisition, retention, and growth with clear KPIs and ambitious goals.
  • Accelerating new user acquisition: Partner with performance and social teams to scale app install campaigns across channels within ROI targets.
  • Driving App Store visibility: Lead ASO strategy, testing and experimentation to maximise visibility and downloads across iOS and Android.
  • Optimising web-to-app journeys: Build seamless conversion paths from web to app, improving landing experiences and activation.
  • Boosting retention and re-engagement: Develop targeted strategies to keep users coming back using behavioural insights and in-app personalisation.
  • Creating a compelling proposition: Partner with Research, Product and Brand to communicate a clear and differentiated app value to new and existing users.
  • Tracking performance and scaling growth: Set install and retention targets, manage app marketing budgets, and act on real-time data.

Qualifications

  • Mobile-first marketer: At least 15 years of marketing experience with deep expertise in mobile app growth, ASO, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Proven growth leader: Successfully scaled app acquisition and engagement in global environments with tangible results.
  • Strategic and hands-on: Comfortable setting strategy and optimizing campaigns and experiences.
  • Cross-functional influencer: Experience collaborating with product, data, engineering, and design teams and aligning stakeholders.
  • Customer-obsessed: Focus on user behaviour, long-term engagement, and traveler-centric decisions.
  • Analytical and data-driven: Strong analytical skills, understanding of long-term customer value, and data-driven investment decisions.
  • Inspirational leader: Led high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence, pace, and creativity.
