About Skyscanner
Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges. That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole "47 browser tabs open" phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily.
Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all. Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here.)
Now, we're on the lookout for an App Marketing Director to drive app-first growth and help build lasting, value-led relationships with our travellers.
You can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, or London, where we adopt a hybrid working policy of working in the office twice a week.
About the role
Hybrid
As App Marketing Director, you'll lead the end-to-end marketing strategy for Skyscanner's app, driving acquisition, engagement, and retention across global markets. You'll champion app-first thinking and deliver marketing strategies that deepen customer relationships, accelerate growth, and position our app as the best way to experience Skyscanner.
This is a key leadership role requiring deep mobile marketing expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to shape both brand and performance marketing agendas. You'll work across product, design, performance, data, and brand teams to optimise every part of the app journey.
What you'll be doing
Owning the app marketing strategy: You'll define and execute the global strategy for app acquisition, retention, and growth - with clear KPIs and ambitious goals.
Accelerating new user acquisition: You'll partner with performance and social teams to scale app install campaigns across channels, within ROI targets.
Driving App Store visibility: You'll lead on ASO strategy, testing and experimentation to maximise visibility and downloads across iOS and Android platforms.
Optimising web-to-app journeys: You'll build seamless conversion paths from web to app, improving landing experiences and increasing activation.
Boosting retention and re-engagement: You'll develop targeted strategies to keep users coming back, using behavioural insight and in-app personalisation.
Creating a compelling proposition: You'll partner with Research, Product and Brand to ensure we communicate a clear and differentiated app value to new and existing users.
Tracking performance and scaling growth: You'll set install and retention targets, manage app marketing budgets, and take action based on real-time data.
About you
Mobile-first marketer: You bring at least 15 years of marketing experience with deep expertise in mobile app growth, ASO, and lifecycle marketing.
Proven growth leader: You've successfully scaled app acquisition and engagement in complex, global environments - and can show tangible results.
Strategic and hands-on: You're as comfortable setting strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves to optimise campaigns and experiences.
Cross-functional influencer: You've worked closely with product, data, engineering and design teams, and know how to align diverse stakeholders.
Customer-obsessed: You understand user behaviour, value long-term engagement, and put the traveller at the centre of your decisions.
Analytical and data-driven: You have strong analytical skills, understand long-term customer value, and use data to drive investment decisions.
Inspirational leader: You've built and led high-performing teams (both direct and virtual), fostering a culture of excellence, pace, and creativity.
