Marketing Assistant role at Haberdashers' Elstree SchoolsThe Marketing department is a dynamic and busy team responsible for promoting Haberdashers’ Boys’ and Girls’ schools (Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools). The department handles all marketing, communications, PR and design, playing a fundamental role in brand awareness, pupil recruitment, and parent and alumni support. It collaborates with the Admissions team on events and communications (e.g., Open Days and admission-related mornings), supports the Commercial team with venue hire promotion, and assists the Development team with fundraising activities and events. It also supports outward-facing collateral such as event programmes, postcards and general communications for day-to-day school activities.Role will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:To update and highlight daily workloads to your manager, ensuring deadlines, briefs and budgets are met.Maintain open lines of communication with your manager to ensure full transparency.BrandBrand guardian for the department; ensure brand guidelines, tone of voice, colours, typefaces, logos and crests are used across all marketing material.Identify ways to improve branded material and evolve brand guidelines as needed.Stay updated on industry trends, especially in school education marketing and content.Keep abreast of local and national education news.Uphold the ethos and aims of the school.Strategy and planningSupport the team to execute the annual marketing and communication strategy and budget.Support the Programme Manager to execute the marketing information system (statistics, target market, competitor research) to enable strategic decision making.Assist with research to inform future marketing strategy.MarketingCollaborate with other departments to develop new marketing solutions.Apply and maintain our tone of voice across all internal and external communications.Organise and manage annual and termly publications for both schools.Adapt and create templates for events such as concerts, conferences and talks, and for internal school event materials (e.g., Drama, Music, Art, Sport).Plan and purchase merchandise material for admissions and departments.PhotographyProvide photography support at school events as needed.Admissions and DevelopmentAssist with updating the school’s marketing materials (prospectuses, newsletters).Assist with materials for the development team for alumni events.Assist with marketing and publicity for major school events such as Open Day.Person specificationEducated to degree level in Marketing, Humanities, Media or a related field.Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a Marketing role.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Attention to detail, especially with brand guidelines and proofreading.Ability to write dynamic and engaging copy for electronic and printed publications.Ability to deliver within agreed timings in a fast-paced environment.Hardworking, positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and meet deadlines; ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong IT skills including MS Office; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.Ability to absorb knowledge quickly and adapt to changing daily tasks.Flexible approach to day-to-day work within the schools; able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.Ability to interact effectively with colleagues in Marketing, Admissions and other school departments.Understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act; awareness of marketing research techniques and reporting.Knowledge of available communication channels and their benefits and drawbacks.Willingness to take on roles beyond the stated job description with enthusiasm.TrainingPrepared to undertake training and development as required, particularly in relation to Adobe Creative Suite and new technologies.Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
