Overview

As our Head of Digital Marketing and Campaigns, you will be instrumental in shaping Bookouture's marketing future. You will collaborate with the Digital Marketing and Campaigns Director to contribute to our marketing and communications strategy, driving innovative and results-driven campaigns across all publishing programmes: Bookouture, Second Sky, and Translate. A core responsibility will be leading our digital advertising efforts, setting strategy and managing campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, TikTok, and Bookbub. You will design and execute creative branding campaigns for high-potential authors and titles, analyse performance to identify growth opportunities, optimise approaches, oversee testing programmes, and collaborate with external freelancers and agencies. You will contribute to our organic social media strategy with the Communications team, ensuring alignment with paid advertising for fully integrated campaigns. You will oversee reporting to assess account performance and identify effective content. Email marketing will be a core area, developing and overseeing strategy across all campaigns, executing paid and organic acquisition initiatives to expand subscriber lists and drive continuous improvement in performance. You will provide insights and guidance to the Communications team, monitor budgets for ROI, and present key performance insights and strategic recommendations to senior management. You will drive expansion into new marketing channels while optimising existing platforms, regularly present developments and reports in company meetings, and design marketing strategy for authors at acquisition and re-contracting meetings. You will contribute to team development, training members in commercial and analytical decisions, ensuring quality control, and supporting recruitment. Staying current with industry developments and emerging marketing technologies is paramount, and you will analyse market trends to maintain competitive advantage and share insights to recommend innovative approaches in cross-functional meetings within Bookouture and Hachette.

The successful candidate will be skilled in executing campaigns, analysing performance data, identifying growth opportunities, and optimising approaches. They will understand the best channels for campaign success and be proactive in staying current with industry developments and emerging technologies. An emphasis on team development includes training and mentoring team members, ensuring high-quality outputs and fostering strategic commercial and analytical decision-making. The ability to provide strategic guidance, present recommendations to senior management, and manage external relationships effectively is crucial. Responsibilities

  • Lead digital advertising strategy and management across Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, TikTok, and Bookbub.

  • Collaborate with the Communications team on organic social media strategies and align with paid campaigns for integrated initiatives.

  • Develop and oversee email marketing strategy across all campaigns, expanding subscriber lists and improving performance.
  • Provide insights, guidance, and strategic recommendations to senior management; monitor budgets for strong ROI.
  • Drive expansion into new marketing channels and optimise existing platforms.
  • Present developments and reports in company meetings; contribute to acquisition and re-contracting strategy with authors.
  • Develop the team, train members in commercial and analytical decision-making, ensure quality control, and assist recruitment.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings within Bookouture and Hachette.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in leading digital advertising across major platforms (e.g., Meta, Amazon).
  • Experience developing and executing organic social media and email marketing strategies.
  • Strong ability to analyse performance data, identify growth opportunities, and optimise campaigns.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with ownership mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members; ability to manage external relationships.
