This role can be based at our London or Sheffield office, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

What you’ll be doing

  • As Head of Digital Marketing and Campaigns, shape Bookouture’s marketing future in collaboration with the Digital Marketing and Campaigns Director. Contribute to the comprehensive marketing and communications strategy across all publishing programmes: Bookouture, Second Sky, and Translate.
  • Lead digital advertising strategy and manage campaigns across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, TikTok, and Bookbub. Design and execute creative branding campaigns for high-potential authors and titles, analyse performance, identify growth opportunities, and optimise approaches. Oversee testing programmes and collaborate with external freelancers and agencies.
  • Drive organic social media efforts with the Communications team to develop engaging strategies for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X/Bluesky, ensuring alignment with paid advertising for integrated campaigns. Oversee reporting to assess account performance and effective content.
  • Develop and oversee email marketing strategy across all campaigns, executing paid and organic acquisition initiatives to expand subscriber lists and improve performance.
  • Provide insights and guidance to the Communications team, monitor budgets for strong ROI, present key performance insights and strategic recommendations to senior management, and drive expansion into new marketing channels while optimising existing platforms.
  • Regularly present developments and reports in company meetings and design marketing strategy for authors at acquisition and re-contracting meetings. Contribute to team development, training, quality control, and recruitment support.
  • Stay current with industry developments and emerging marketing technologies. Analyse market trends to maintain a competitive advantage and share insights to recommend innovative approaches, contributing to cross-functional meetings within Bookouture and Hachette.

We are seeking an ambitious, results-driven Head of Digital Marketing and Campaigns with a genuine passion for commercial fiction and innovative marketing. The ideal candidate will be creative and innovative, capable of conceptualising, managing, and optimising multi-channel campaigns that deliver strong ROI. They will take ownership of campaigns and continually seek opportunities to improve processes.

This role requires a proven track record in leading digital advertising across major platforms like Meta and Amazon, with expertise in organic social media and email marketing strategies. The successful candidate will be skilled in executing campaigns, analysing performance data, identifying growth opportunities, and optimising approaches. They will understand the best channels for campaign success and be proactive in staying current with industry developments.

Additionally, the role involves team development: training and mentoring team members, ensuring high-quality outputs, fostering strategic commercial and analytical decision-making, and presenting guidance and recommendations to senior management. The ability to manage external relationships effectively is crucial.
