This is a full-time, permanent role with structured training and a clear progression path into Design Manager.The Role at a GlancePosition: Web Design / Design Manager in WaitingLocation: Dorking HQStarting salary: £28,000 rising upon graduation to Team ManagerHours: 8.45am – 5.00pmBenefits: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays; other benefits listed as company trips and development daysYour Background / SkillsExperience managing a design teamCreative with leadership and communication skillsExperience using Webflow, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and basic codingStrong ability to lead and motivate a teamThe Design Manager OpportunityLead and manage the design team, track KPIs, oversee day-to-day operations, and act as the main contact for design matters. The role includes a structured training pathway and progression to senior leadership roles such as Head of Design.Training & Progression PathwayMonths 1–3: Hands-on training building client websites with Webflow, updating live sites, and learning processes and design standardsMonths 3–6: Support workload allocation, KPI tracking, and shadowing management responsibilitiesMonth 6 onwards: Transition into full team management, daily operations, KPIs, project delivery, and staff developmentThis pathway ensures you are prepared before stepping into leadership responsibilities. Clear progression toward senior leadership roles is provided.What Your Day Might Look LikeHands-on design responsibilities during training: build client websites with Webflow, update live sites, learn client processes and project workflowsCore management responsibilities once trained: daily management of design team operations, KPI tracking and reporting, project oversight, primary contact for design queriesDaily management of design team: allocate workloads, update trackers, attend meetings, oversee design QCs, conduct monthly 1:1s, complete a management course within 6 monthsManagement of KPIs: track, monitor, and report KPIs; ensure targets are met; oversee delivery within SLAProject management: track designer workloads, ensure timely completionMain point of contact for design: escalate issues, liaise with senior management and other departments, log and resolve escalations in writingAbout YouProven experience managing, mentoring, and coaching a teamExperience using Webflow is essentialAbility to inspire creativity while maintaining consistencyStrong leadership and people management skillsAbility to track, monitor, and report on KPIsStrong communication and organizational skills and cross-department collaborationDetail-oriented with focus on high-quality design outputsProactive, ambitious, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environmentReady to Take the Leap into Leadership?If you’re a creative designer with the drive to lead, develop, and inspire a team, this is your chance to fast-track your career into management.
