Software Engineering Director – Marketing and Engagement
New Today
Job Description
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of marketing technology at one of the world’s most loved and playful brands. As part of our engineering leadership team, you will set direction, lead high-performing product teams, and drive tangible business impact. With the freedom to define strategy and the support of a global organisation, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding our digital transformation and inspiring the next generation of engineering talent.
No relocation assistance is offered for this position.
Core Responsibilities
- Set Direction & Architecture: Lead 4–6 product teams and empower Lead and Staff Engineers to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.
- Shape Engineering Culture: Champion modern practices, drive clarity in build vs. buy decisions, and foster autonomy, quality, and developer experience.
- Grow & Inspire Talent: Build and scale high-performing teams, mentoring direct reports and enabling new skills for the future.
- Drive Business Outcomes: Collaborate with product, data science, and architecture leaders to prioritize effectively, manage budgets, and deliver measurable value.
- Own Accountability: Take responsibility for engineering outcomes, delivery, and strategic investment decisions across your portfolio.
Play your part in our team succeeding
Our marketing technology journey is accelerating. This year is about strengthening capabilities; next year is about moving faster and delivering even greater value. We need a leader who can bring clarity in complexity, align stakeholders, and set teams up for long-term success. You’ll also work closely with senior business leaders, giving you real influence on how the LEGO Group builds the future of marketing.
If you’re motivated by scaling organisations, building inclusive teams, and leading through change, this is your opportunity to make an impact at the LEGO Group — while shaping how millions of people experience our brand.
Do you have what it takes?
You combine a strong technical foundation with the ability to translate it into strategy, execution, and outcomes. You are self-driven, growth-minded, and have a proven record of leading through change. Your success will be measured not by being the deepest architect in the room, but by how you grow and enable your engineering leaders to succeed:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Director or senior leader in a matrixed or global environment.
- Success in leading and scaling multiple product teams (4–6), setting strategy and enabling autonomy.
- Strong technical depth — enough to coach and challenge Lead Engineers, while focusing your energy on building, empowering, and aligning teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, flexing from engineers to executives.
- A bias for action: making business cases, creating clarity in ambiguity, and delivering at pace.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in marketing tech or customer engagement platforms.
- Familiarity with data/AI models, performance measurement, and enabling data maturity.
- Ability to balance strategic direction with detailed problem-solving.
- Confidence in engaging diverse audiences and tailoring messages to drive alignment.
- Experience leading distributed or global teams, creating cohesion and shared purpose across locations.
