Soul Mama is a live music venue and restaurant in Stratford, East London founded by YolanDa Brown OBE DL, with site 2 opening soon and more locations on the horizon. We’re building a joyful, inclusive cultural brand where outstanding artists and vibrant hospitality meet. We’re now looking for aHead of Programmingto lead the programming, music and marketing at our current site and drive audience growth as we expand. The role You will be the engine behind our shows and our story... curating an exciting programme, marketing it brilliantly, and growing loyal audiences across multiple sites. You will:
Own the programme:Plan and book a compelling calendar (residencies, one-offs, tours, late shows, brunches), negotiate deals, draft contracts, manage holds, riders and settlements. Drive audience growth:Build and execute data-led marketing campaigns across social, email/CRM, paid media, PR and partnerships to meet ticket and F&B targets. Maximise sales:Oversee listings, ticketing journeys, pricing, allocations and onsale timelines; optimise upsells, bundles and dine and show offers. Lead brand storytelling:Commission and create content (video, photo, copy), maintain tone of voice and campaign assets across all channels. Build partnerships:Work with promoters, agents, labels, media, community groups and brands to widen our reach and create standout moments. Collaborate across the house:Work closely with the GM, Kitchen & Bar, and Operations to align show times with service, smooth changeovers, and deliver five-star guest experience. Manage budgets & reporting:Hold programming and marketing budgets, forecast, track KPIs and report on sales, ROI and audience insights. Support expansion:Help launch new sites with opening campaigns, local partnerships and an opening season programme that turns heads.
About you
4+ years in live music programming and/or venue marketing (hospitality or multi-use venue experience ideal). Strong industry relationships with agents, promoters and artists across soul, jazz, reggae, gospel, R&B, children & family, and adjacent genres. Proven record hitting sales targets and growing audiences using CRM, Meta/Google ads, TikTok/short-form, influencer, PR and partnerships. Comfortable with contracts, show advancing, PRS/PPL, technical riders and settlements. Commercially sharp with excellent copywriting and campaign planning skills; confident with analytics and dashboards. Calm under pressure, brilliant communicator, collaborative leader. Willing to work some evenings/weekends; right to work in the UK.
What success looks like (first 6 months)
A sold-through, well-balanced diary with clear pillars (e.g. Gospel Brunch, Soul Women Unite, special residencies). Consistent weekly marketing rhythm that grows list size, engagement and conversion. Higher average ticket yield and stronger F&B per head on show nights. Signed partnership calendar with local media, brands and community organisations.
