Overview
The Armitt Library and Museum Centre is a heritage venue in the Lake District. This role is a Museum Assistant (Marketing & Content) on a part-time basis, averaging 2/3 days per week. The post involves delivering great visitor service and supporting marketing and content activities to extend the venue's reach.
The Armitt was established in 1912 to provide a place for students and booklovers as well as a museum that showcases the history of Ambleside. The collection includes Beatrix Potter’s fungi watercolours, artworks by Kurt Schwitters, Ambleside Roman Fort objects, and early 20th century photographs.
Main responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service by welcoming visitors, answering questions, and helping them make the most of their visit
- Process tickets and shop products
- Work with the Manager & Curator to keep marketing and publicity channels active and engaging
- Act as a Duty Officer to ensure the building is safe and secure, follow emergency procedures, and assist in evacuations
- Present talks/tours to visitors
Other duties
- Keep the inside and outside space presentable
- Work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and organisation policies and procedures
- Undertake appropriate training as required
- Represent The Armitt and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the organisation
