We’re looking for a dynamic and driven individual to help shape and deliver our marketing and communications strategy—promoting South Yorkshire as one of the best places in the country to live, work, study, and visit.
As Marketing Officer you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering impactful campaigns, managing digital content, organising events and producing high‑quality marketing materials that showcase the work we do across the region and nationally. From social media to stakeholder engagement, you’ll help us tell our story in a way that resonates with our communities and partners.
Candidates will ideally have experience of working in a public sector role, delivering engaging marketing activity to successfully promote key employability programmes and business‑facing intervention schemes.
Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter which demonstrates how you meet the criteria for the role (please see role profile attached). Please note, all applications should be made directly via our careers portal.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the development and delivery of SYMCA’s marketing and communication strategies.
Design and deliver engaging digital content across our website and social media platforms.
Create and coordinate marketing materials and campaigns that align with our brands and strategic goals.
Manage marketing data and customer information to support targeted communications.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
Identify and implement new and innovative marketing approaches to enhance our reach and impact.
Monitor trends, evaluate campaign performance, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Support event planning and delivery as part of wider campaign activity.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a strong, proven foundation in marketing and communications, who is confident working in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment. You’ll be creative, collaborative, and results‑focused, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Recognised qualification in marketing, communications, or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools, including website CMS, CRM management, email marketing, and social media.
Experience producing and commissioning marketing materials and content.
Proven ability to engage diverse audiences, including the public, political stakeholders, and businesses.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Experience working in a political or public sector environment.
Understanding of brand positioning and campaign strategy.
Experience managing events or public engagement activities.
