The Marketing Manager will be responsible for driving footfall, increasing sales across both grocery and off‑licence categories, managing the brand's reputation, and executing campaigns that resonate with our local customer base.Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing Strategy & PlanningDevelop the annual marketing plan and budget, aligning with overall business objectivesConduct market research to understand local competition, customer demographics, and market trends in both grocery and alcohol retailIdentify key opportunities for growth, such as promoting local products, craft beers, or premium spiritsSegment the customer base and create targeted marketing initiatives for different groups (e.g., families, students, professionals)Campaign Management & PromotionsPlan and execute end-to-end promotional campaigns for key calendar events (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Summer BBQ season, Diwali, Halloween)Create compelling offers, including multi‑buys, meal deals, and themed promotions (e.g., 'Wine & Dine,' 'Beer & Burger Night')Manage in‑store promotions, including point‑of‑sale (POS) materials, shelf barkers, and window displaysLiaise with suppliers to secure joint promotional funding and marketing support (e.g., from breweries or soft drink brands)Digital Marketing & E‑commerceManage and grow the company’s social media presence (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with engaging, locally‑relevant contentCreate and send regular email newsletters to a subscriber list, featuring promotions, new products, and company newsMaintain and update the company website, ensuring product information and opening hours are accurateExplore and manage local delivery partnerships (e.g., with Deliveroo, Uber Eats) and online presence on platforms like Google My BusinessBrand Management & Community EngagementEnsure all marketing materials and in‑store branding are consistent and reflect the company’s valuesBuild strong relationships within the local community by sponsoring local events, sports teams, or school fairsOrganise in‑store events, such as wine or whisky tastings, to drive footfall and enhance customer experienceManage local public relations and press releasesCustomer Loyalty & RetentionDevelop and manage a customer loyalty programme to encourage repeat businessMonitor and respond to online reviews on Google, Facebook, and other platformsGather and act on customer feedback to improve service and offeringsAnalysis & ReportingTrack the performance of all marketing campaigns, analysing sales data to measure ROIMonitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as footfall, average transaction value, and sales by categoryProvide regular reports to the business owner/management on marketing performance and future recommendationsPerson SpecificationEssential Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Marketing Manager or similar role, preferably within the UK retail, grocery, or hospitality sectorStrong understanding of the UK grocery and off‑licence market, including key trends and legal regulations around alcohol promotionDemonstrable experience in creating and managing successful marketing campaigns from conception to analysisProficiency in digital marketing, including social media management, email marketing, and basic website maintenance (e.g., using WordPress)Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling copy for different channelsHands‑on, practical approach with the ability to create in‑store displays and manage multiple projectsStrong financial acumen with experience in budget managementProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)Desirable Skills & ExperienceFormal qualification in Marketing (e.g., CIM certification)Knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003 and its implications for marketing alcoholExperience using design software like Canva or Adobe Creative SuiteExperience with customer loyalty programmesA passion for food, drink, and local producePersonal AttributesHighly creative and innovativeResults‑driven with a strong commercial awarenessExcellent organisational and time‑management skillsA team player who can also work autonomouslyOutgoing, personable, and confident in engaging with customers and the communityWhat We OfferA competitive salary and performance‑related bonus schemeThe opportunity to play a pivotal role in a growing local businessA dynamic and fast‑paced working environmentStaff discount on groceries and off‑licence productsSupport for professional developmentJob DetailsExperience: RequiredLanguages: English – AdvancedEmployment: Full‑timeSchedule: Monday‑Friday 9:00am – 5:00pmSalary: £30,000 – £40,000 yearlyAbout Go Local Booze & VapeBooz & Vape is known as the busiest grocery store in its area.
