This role profile is a guide to the work you will initially be required to undertake. Chartwells is part of the wider Compass Group family. We are based onsite at Northumbria University, and work in partnership with our clients to deliver the best university experience with our hospitality and event catering, for all students and faculty.

We work between our central and onsite teams to build our Northumbria University catering brand, and we're looking for a new marketing and events manager to deliver our marketing and events strategy, keep our customers engaged, build brilliant supplier relationships, and deliver amazing events on campus.
Overall purpose of the role;
- Own our brand onsite
- Enhance the university experience, for staff and students, through our offer and special events calendar
- Drive sales with a strategic approach to customer profiling, targeted communication plans and an engaging, innovative events calendar
- Build excellent relationships with our clients, customers, suppliers and partners
Key Responsibilities
- Own our onsite brand. Ensure adherence to central team guidelines, whilst maintaining Northumbria University's unique sense of self. It's a part of our students' experience - bait and banter, we're Northern and proud
- Use our brand's tone of voice, within the existing guidelines. From our menus to our temporary signage - make sure we sound like us, our brand and what we want it to be
- Work in and own our Canva account for campaign resources, visual identity assets, plus all the useful stuff like menus and labels
- Work with our existing partner brands and franchises. Support the operational teams with installs and operational delivery to make sure that our outlets are looking their best for customers, and are compliant for brand audits
- Ensure that our brands, campaigns and promotions are displayed accurately and consistently across outlets and that our operational teams have all the kit they need
- Work within EDI guidelines. We don't want to hit the minimum requirements; we want best practice in inclusivity and accessibility. We are here to provide a great experience for everyone, no matter their needs
Person Specification
- A people-person; you're as comfortable speaking to a new student as you are to senior stakeholder
- You'll model company values of honesty, respect and fairness
- We want to see your passion for excellent food and experiences
- You'll be creative by nature, and able to think of amazing ways to get your messages out there
- You'll work independently as well as in a team
- Able to work in a fun, fast-paced environment and adaptable when needed
- Relevant experience in a marketing position
- Creative and innovative approach, with enthusiasm for all things marketing
- Ability to produce and interpret campaign data and performance reports
- Experience in Canva or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in working to targets
- A passion for great customer experiences
- Organised approach to work and scheduling, with ability to be pragmatic when needed
- An understanding of different marketing channels and how to use them to their full advantage
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment whilst maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- A strong interest in F&B, retail and events
