Job Title: Marketing and Communications Director

Salary: £84,600 - £100,000

Location: Cambridge/Hybrid with UK and International travel as required

Contract: Full time, Permanent, 35 hours per week

This is a critical role in a dynamic and newly established COE senior leadership team to lead our marketing, communications and brand strategy to deliver on our exciting growth targets. COE works across the University of Cambridge to bring the very best in executive and professional online learning together in an ‘all-Cambridge' experience for industry clients and customers, centred around a market leading portfolio of online short courses.

About the role

You will lead the COE Marketing & Communication team into its next phase of growth, developing the team to be a high-functioning and impactful strategic partner to the business, while building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the University - including marketing and commercial leaders of the executive and professional education community, and with central brand, communication, web, press and alumni teams, to go to market as ‘one-Cambridge'.

Core responsibilities are to:

  • Design the marketing role and responsibilities, setting the team up for success to deliver on the next phase of COE business strategy.
  • Develop and deliver the COE marketing strategy in line with the COE business strategy.
  • Work with the renowned University of Cambridge brand, showcasing your communications expertise in thoughtful and creative ways to let the market know about one of the world's largest portfolios of executive and professional education and the University's point of view on the future of work.
  • Bring your leading digital and web skills and latest thinking as the lead business owner for our web presence as we build our next generation website.
  • Lead the team with a commercial mindset to pivot from single channel paid marketing to a multi-channel and content led approach, improving our CPA and bringing greater control and efficiencies to our marketing spend to deliver greater ROI as we scale our approach across commercial channels.
  • Work with COE Commercial Director to establish a new B2B marketing and sales enablement approach for high-value, high-impact industry engagement, while also supporting the development of new commercial propositions and their launch to market.
  • Work with COE Learning Propositions Director and team to craft compelling value propositions and take our sector and skill specific course portfolios to market in new and creative ways to reach our target audiences in an effective and informed approach.
  • Work with COE Operations Director to optimise business and marketing intelligence and ensure end-to-end marketing process efficiencies

Stage 1: 7th November via MS Teams

Stage 2: 19th-21st November face-to-face in Cambridge (may be asked to prepare a presentation in advance)

Stage 3: w/c 24th November- 30 minute informal conversation with our Managing Director and a Senior University stakeholder
