Head of Marketing – Professional Football Club (Northwest)

Location: Northwest England

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000

Sporting Jobs are working on behalf of a professional football club to recruit a Head of Marketing. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic marketing leader to drive fan engagement, grow brand presence, and lead innovative campaigns within a dynamic sports environment.

Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, the Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing the club’s marketing strategy across digital, brand, content, and communications, supporting ticketing, commercial, and fan engagement objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the club’s overall marketing and content strategy.
  • Lead on digital growth, including website traffic, social media performance, and CRM.
  • Oversee content planning and creation across all channels — digital, video, print, and matchday.
  • Manage internal marketing team and external creative/content partners.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to support partner activations and sponsorship value.
  • Drive ticket sales campaigns, fan acquisition, and community initiatives.
  • Monitor analytics and KPIs to refine strategies and report performance to leadership.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all club outputs and media platforms.

Deliver targeted marketing plans across the club’s four key commercial areas:

  • Ticketing: Season tickets, matchday tickets, and memberships
  • Club Hospitality & Events: Premium experiences and non-matchday bookings
  • Retail: Club merchandise, Club kits, and online store sales
  • Clubs TV: The club’s subscription streaming platform

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in a senior marketing role, ideally within sport, entertainment, or media.
  • Strong understanding of brand development, digital strategy, and content creation.
  • Experience managing a team and working cross-functionally with commercial departments.
  • Data-driven approach with experience using CRM, social analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, creative thinking, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including matchdays, evenings, and weekends as required.
