Overview
We believe reading is essential for a healthy society; our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. We are looking for a highly creative, data-driven and results-oriented individual to help lead key marketing initiatives for the Japan Books business, and ultimately, to inspire the next generation of readers in Japan.
This role will oversee the development of integrated marketing campaigns (across Owned & Operated and Paid channels, including Social) and Go-to-Market (GTM) support for a suite of new customer-facing products. The successful candidate will blend strategic, project management, analytical, and relationship-building capabilities to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate has strong product vision with highly developed customer instincts and an ability to influence diverse teams. They have a strong sense of accountability, and a keen focus on delivering great customer experiences and strong, measurable results. They should be comfortable diving deep into the data, yet be able to step back and communicate both the strategic and immediate implications on priorities.
Responsibilities
- Own the marketing vision and strategy for established programs, new services and customer-facing products
- Create measurable, scalable and innovative marketing campaigns – both on and offline – to drive customer acquisition, engagement and retention
- Provide CX inputs to product teams and program owners; deliver the GTM plan of new features and services
- Drive sustainable process improvements and automation across the function; improve reach and efficiency of key marketing programs and channels
- Hire and develop the best talent; create an environment that enables professional growth and motivates colleagues

Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- Experience managing teams
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in traditional and emerging media channels including TV, OOH, cinema, digital display, online video and paid social
- Experience leading across multiple locales
