The role

Based at our Headington campus and reporting to the Head of Strategic Marketing & Digital, we’re looking for a dynamic and strategic Head of Faculty Marketing & Communications to join our Strategic Marketing & Digital team on a fixed term 15 month contract. This role is focused on leading marketing and communications for the Oxford Brookes Business School and the School of Arts (part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences).

As a senior member of the Strategic Marketing & Digital (SMD) team, you will act as the marketing and communications partner and strategic advisor to the Faculty. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership in both the Faculty and across Marketing, Recruitment & Engagement (MRE) to shape and implement impactful strategies that align with the University’s broader communication and recruitment goals.

About the team

By unifying all marketing, communications, recruitment and engagement activity, the Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement Directorate makes a measurable difference to the experience of staff, prospective students, students and alumni. The Directorate is confident and ambitious, applying professional skills and expertise to make every contact count and to make a valued contribution to the University’s objectives.

What will I be doing?

  • Leading the planning and delivery of Faculty marketing and communications activity, working collaboratively with colleagues across the SMD team.
  • Acting as a strategic partner to the Faculty Executive team, particularly the Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, ensuring marketing strategies are rooted in market and competitor insight.
  • Managing and evolving the school’s course propositions in partnership with the Strategic Planning and Market Intelligence team.
  • Ensuring school strengths, innovations, and successes are effectively shared across MRE for use in PR, internal comms, recruitment and marketing.
  • Working with our Global Campaign teams to design advertising campaigns, define objectives and report on outcomes.
  • Collaborating with peers and particularly the Head of Marketing Operations & Delivery to implement and maintain robust content and information processes.

Which skills do I need?

  • Strategic partnership and leadership - experience working with senior stakeholders and leading the delivery of marketing and communications strategies.
  • Product marketing - experience and ability to develop and deliver marketing interventions that support recruitment and raise the profile of academic programmes.
  • Collaboration and influence - excellent communication skills, working with colleagues at all levels, offering advice, gaining buy-in and leading by example.
  • Project management and organisation - demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

About the location

Based at our Headington campus, you’ll experience the vibrant campus atmosphere and benefit from our modern office environment. The campus is one mile from the centre of Oxford and is served by regular public transport. This role will be hybrid and we expect there will be a requirement to be on campus 1-2 days on campus per week.
