Overview

Growth Marketing & Community Builder (fully remote) — As our Growth Marketing & Community Builder, you'll be at the forefront of shaping how engineers and product teams discover and engage with balenaCloud. We're looking for someone with a proven track record who challenges existing marketing and technical user community approaches (ie. developers), actively seeking out and implementing innovative ways to connect with our audience. You'll add a strong, community-led growth dimension to our existing assisted product-led growth model, nurture our vibrant community, and empower technical users to achieve their IoT/Edge fleet management goals.

Responsibilities

• Drive top-of-funnel initiatives to boost brand awareness and empower our community to learn, contribute, and expand
• Collaborate with partners to structure and execute joint communication campaigns that amplify our reach and value
• Define and implement a community-driven social media strategy, focusing on engagement, awareness, and content dissemination to attract and nurture our technical audience
• Contribute to optimizing our website and other online touchpoints with internal teams to clearly articulate Balena's value proposition, improve user discovery, and support community growth
• Attract more users to Balena through effective SEO and other relevant channels
• Drive online community engagement across platforms and channels, including social media and forums
• Inspire and facilitate User-Generated Content (UGC) by creating opportunities for users to share expertise and experiences
• Nurture our user base through targeted email campaigns, newsletters, and other direct engagement channels

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in managing professional tech communities
• Fluent in spoken and written English with exceptional communication skills
• Strong foundational understanding of engineering concepts and the software development lifecycle to communicate with technical users
• Familiarity with key developer collaboration tools and platforms, including GitHub
• Ability to work independently, be proactive, and maintain excellent communication in a remote setting
• Ability to think and work from first principles and clearly articulate the "why" behind your work
• Ability to simplify complex topics
• Experience speaking at events and webinars
• Good understanding of SEO and web analytics
• Willingness to travel to relevant industry events

Preferred

• EU-friendly timezone; located within +/- 3 hours of Central European Time (Summer)
• Experience in community management, developer relations, or technical marketing within SaaS/IoT contexts
• Knowledge of developer concepts and tools (e.g., Docker, APIs) and understanding of IoT components
• Track record of fostering authentic community engagement beyond broadcasting messages
