Markel is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to join our UK Marketing team, (3 days in the office / 2 days working from home). The role is ideally based at our Manchester office, with consideration for Leeds. The Marketing department within UK National Markets is a high-performing team delivering innovative and bespoke insurance solutions to UK businesses.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the Digital Development Manager in managing the digital team and delivering a best-in-class multi-channel digital strategy.
  • Be a key member of the Digital and Marketing Services team, collaborating with the Digital Development Manager, Content, Design and Event leads to deliver multiple campaigns.
  • Ensure channel deliverables reflect key marketing success metrics and are implemented within budget controls.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of social campaigns—from brief through build, reporting and optimization across multiple channels.
  • CRM data management and enrichment.
  • Own reporting and tracking of all digital marketing activity and measure value and optimisations.
  • Support standard processes and brand governance across activities.
  • Ensure quality control of brand governance.

Our Must Haves

  • 4+ years of digital marketing campaign experience, either agency or in-house, across website, email, SEO and social channels (LinkedIn including Campaign Manager & YouTube).
  • Experience of using HubSpot is essential.

CRM & Marketing Automation

  • Manage the CRM system (HubSpot & D365) day-to-day.
  • Create segmented lists and workflows to support campaigns.
  • Build, manage and optimise automated email journeys.
  • Maintain clean, enriched and properly tagged CRM data.
  • Partner with wider colleagues to track and report on engagement.

Digital Campaigns

  • Plan & activate paid and organic campaigns with proficiency in LinkedIn.
  • Monitor spend and performance against KPIs.
  • Test & optimise creative, targeting and messaging.

Digital Optimisation

  • Drive activation of the keyword strategy for visibility and indexing.
  • Conduct keyword research and implement on-page improvements.
  • Track rankings & traffic performance.
  • Ensure website and landing pages are optimised for conversion.

Marketing Analytics

  • Own and contribute to digital performance reporting across all channels.
  • Deliver monthly reports and ad-hoc insights.
  • Make recommendations based on data and trends.

Other Responsibilities/Experience

  • Experience in account and vendor management, including client and partner-facing situations and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with workstack / ticket system management for workload/project management.
  • Experience with eMarketing design, build, and reporting; understanding of automations and nurture sequences.
  • Website CMS management and page maintenance is a bonus.
  • Experience with PPC and SEO.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and work within a hybrid team framework.
  • Desire to build relationships and understand people’s needs, both digitally and in person.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines while handling multiple projects.
  • Desire to study for a Marketing qualification with company support.
