Overview

The Spectator is seeking a Digital Marketing Executive to join the marketing team, focusing on The Spectator World and The Spectator Australia. The role supports digital marketing strategy to grow subscriptions, engagement, and retention, reporting to the Head of Subscriptions. The role involves working across channels including social media, email marketing, and website optimisation to achieve KPI targets.

Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders to execute an integrated marketing strategy to drive both print and digital subscription acquisitions
  • Maintain a weekly digital marketing schedule of acquisition email campaigns, referral marketing campaigns and social media acquisition activity; track activity through a campaign schedule
  • Monitor the success of acquisition marketing activities through appropriate measurement and evaluation; review with the Head of Subscriptions and make recommendations for improvement
  • Regularly review and optimise automated email programs (e.g., win-back series) to maximise customer engagement and retention
  • Assist with the maintenance and evolution of a CRM database
  • Maintain each title\'s online funnel report, plus other key reporting documents feeding into the Head of Subscriptions and senior management
  • Contribute to PPC/Paid social campaigns
  • A/B test website banner creative and user journeys
  • Assist with data quality control
  • Provide feedback on digital trends, opportunities, and emerging concerns to the Head of Subscriptions and Marketing Team

Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel
  • Fast learner with the ability to think on your feet
  • A digital native with experience across a range of digital marketing channels (web, social, email, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working with an ESP (e.g., Mailchimp / Campaign Monitor) and with reporting tools
  • Great teamwork and self-motivation
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English
  • Knowledgeable about digital trends and best practices
  • Interest in politics and current affairs

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a subscriptions marketing environment
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Experience using social media scheduling and listening tools
  • Understanding of A/B testing methodology
  • Basic Photoshop / InDesign skills
  • Some knowledge of the US market
