Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides IT infrastructure services and a comprehensive suite of AI/ML services, tools, and infrastructure to help users build, train, and deploy models. This position will primarily support AWS's sales teams across Latin America, with a focus on Spanish-speaking countries, including advising on strategic enterprise agreements and technology licensing agreements, policy, regulatory and compliance issues, and assisting with business development and other initiatives. Typical transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value strategic agreements. The candidate will have primary drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business team members. The role also includes managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft, and advise on strategic enterprise agreements and technology licensing agreements for AWS sales teams in Latin America (Spanish-speaking countries).
  • Advise on policy, regulatory and compliance issues; assist with business development and other initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business team members.
  • Draft and negotiate standard contracts as well as complex, high-value agreements.
  • Manage legal issues arising in existing commercial relationships and handle pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Business fluent Spanish and English language skills (speaking and writing, including negotiating and agreement drafting)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
  • Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (in English and Spanish)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
  • Experience in public procurement, working with government or state-owned entities
  • Inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
  • Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented approach to addressing issues
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
