OverviewThe Corporate Communications Manager will be responsible for ensuring consistent and compelling external communications to drive the charity’s brand, establish ARUK’s position in key strategic areas, and help drive value from corporate partnerships. The postholder will ensure a clear internal narrative and key messaging for ARUK employees, and support external communications from the CEO Office. This includes guiding thought leadership from ARUK’s Senior Leadership Team and ambassadors, informing stakeholder communications, and protecting ARUK’s growing corporate reputation. The postholder will oversee the charity’s Annual Report and Review and identify opportunities to raise the charity’s profile in key strategic areas. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a secondment. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam ManagementDevelop and deliver operational plans for the team, working closely with other departments across the charity including Corporate Fundraising and the CEO Office.Manage the budget of the team, including reforecasting.Provide effective team leadership: regular 1:1s, constructive feedback, time and workload management, and support for training and development needs of team members.Contribute to department-wide initiatives to improve ways of working, increase engagement, and improve output quality.Thought LeadershipDevelop and execute high-impact communication strategies that amplify the CEO’s voice across internal and external platforms.Craft compelling narratives, speeches, op-eds, and social media content; identify emerging themes to shape messaging.Source, evaluate, and coordinate media opportunities (interviews, podcasts, panels, profiles); prepare briefing materials and talking points for consistent representation.Partnership CommunicationsManage a team focused on communications for corporate fundraising partners; support pitch/proposition development and partnership announcements; provide learning opportunities and consultancy to fundraising and partnerships teams; oversee communications around current and future strategic partnerships.Key MessagingDevelop and maintain key messaging documents and guidelines for the Department; ensure internal teams and external partners use consistent messaging to underpin ARUK’s brand.Media RelationsPlan proactive PR with metrics to guide decisions and identify opportunities; track media key messages; promote thought leadership on strategic issues.What we are looking forAbility to develop and support a high-performing team aligned to organisational priorities.Proven experience in setting KPIs and leading integrated PR and digital campaigns; track record of securing top-tier coverage from an influential press office.Experience/understanding of health inequalities and public health issues.Ownership mindset, high motivation, and commitment to delivering results with continuous improvement.Strategic and creative thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Creative flair with attention to detail, compelling copy, and ability to spot opportunities for ARUK and its beneficiaries.Excellent journalistic skills and ability to influence media and thought leadership.Ability to develop clear, persuasive messaging to support ARUK’s strategic goals and reputation.Ability to build effective relationships with internal colleagues and partner contacts; adaptable to different working styles and cultures.Collaborative and approachable; able to work across departments to deliver projects.Self-starter with independence, intelligence, drive, and initiative.Strong ethical standards and integrity.Willingness and ability to travel in the UK and beyond; able to work outside regular office hours.Additional InformationWays of working: As part of Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, with flexibility on where you work (home/office).Travel and/or meals costs are not reimbursed for Agile roles.Our Office: 3 Riverside, Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge, CB21 6AD.Please download the Vacancy Pack on our website for more information.Closing date: 19 October 2025; interviews arranged after shortlisting.
