Account Manager – Sports & Athlete Marketing Company: WeAreNinety Location: Wilmslow, Manchester Reports To: Founder/CEO Job Type: Contract (6 months) WeAreNinety are sports marketing and activation specialists based in Wilmslow, Manchester and London, with a global reach. WeAreNinety is seeking a top class operator, a driven and experienced Account Manager to lead key client relationships, ensure the successful delivery of high‑impact sports marketing campaigns, and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, great communicator, passionate about sports and thrive in a start‑up sports marketing business. You will be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, delivering against KPIs, and collaborating with internal teams & partners to ensure we consistently exceed expectations. Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for high‑profile clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring satisfaction with all agency services Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships through effective communication, understanding of their business needs, and proactive support Lead strategic client meetings, quarterly business reviews, and post‑campaign analysis Strategic Leadership: Work with clients to develop sports marketing strategies that align with their business objectives, delivering creative solutions that drive brand awareness, engagement, and ROI Collaborate with creative, digital, content and partnership partners to ensure that all campaigns are aligned with client goals, timelines, and budgets Identify new opportunities to expand services or introduce innovative approaches that support client growth and business objectives Project Management & Delivery: Oversee the delivery of campaigns from conception to execution, ensuring all projects are on track, within budget, and meet or exceed performance targets Work with internal teams to manage day‑to‑day account activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control of deliverables Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the campaign execution, providing swift solutions and managing client expectations Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to grow accounts by proposing additional services, upselling, or cross‑selling within existing relationships Play an active role in new business pitches, contributing to proposal development, presenting to potential clients, and supporting business growth initiatives Mentor and manage Account Executive, ensuring professional development and strong performance Foster a collaborative environment within the team Build a fun, enjoyable and high‑performing work culture
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in sports marketing, with a focus on partnerships, athletes and brand integration – ideally within a sports marketing agency, advertising agency, or brand management Experience: PR, Communications and Activation experience, alongside proven experience in leading client accounts Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Business, or a related field Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the sports landscape, including sponsorship, athlete marketing, content creation, and fan engagement Project Management: Proven track record of leading and delivering large‑scale marketing campaigns on time and within budget Client Management: Excellent client‑facing skills with the ability to build and maintain high‑level relationships Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and present strategic solutions that drive measurable business outcomes for clients Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring teams, with the ability to inspire and drive performance Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to clients and stakeholders Business Development: Experience in identifying and securing new opportunities for account & business growth
