About the Role
A leading, boutique agency are seeking a Technical SEO Specialist to join their team and take ownership of technical site performance across a diverse client portfolio. You’ll be responsible for delivering detailed technical SEO audits, communicating findings clearly, and ensuring recommendations are actioned - either hands-on or by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Head of SEO you'll bring a wealth of skills within this dynamic discipline. As a specialist in this area you'll be keenly aware of latest trends and developments and enjoy communicating these to your team and clients. This position offers fantastic flexibility within a friendly, high performing team of experts who are passionate about delivering excellent work to their long-standing client base.
This is a key delivery role that blends deep technical knowledge with strong communication and problem-solving skills. You’ll work closely with our Head of SEO, SEO strategists, developers, and content teams to ensure our clients’ websites are technically optimised for organic search and future-ready for evolving algorithmic expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth technical SEO audits across client websites, identifying performance issues, crawlability barriers, indexation problems, and opportunities for improvement.
Present audit findings and recommendations in a structured and client-friendly format.
Prioritise and implement fixes directly where feasible (e.g., redirects, metadata updates, robots.txt, sitemaps, internal linking adjustments).
Liaise with developers, content teams, and third-party platforms to ensure more complex or development-heavy recommendations are implemented correctly.
Monitor and report on key technical SEO KPIs (e.g., Core Web Vitals, crawl stats, index coverage, page speed, mobile usability).
Use tools like Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and SEMrush/Ahrefs to diagnose and track issues.
Stay up to date with algorithm updates, emerging best practices, and advancements in technical SEO.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in technical SEO, either in-house or agency-side.
Strong knowledge of website architecture, SEO best practices, and core HTML/CSS fundamentals.
Proficient with industry-standard SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Google Search Console.
Comfortable making basic front-end changes or advising developers on more complex technical implementations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple client projects simultaneously.
Confident working in fast-paced environments and under pressure, maintaining focus on high-impact tasks.
Able to independently manage workload while coordinating priorities proactively with the wider team.
Skilled in collaborating with internal teams and clients to brief in technical work, validate implementations, and ensure alignment with strategy.
Strong stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
Proactive approach to technical SEO, with a clear understanding of what drives performance and delivers value for clients.
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience with CMS platforms like WordPress, Shopify, Magento, or Webflow.
Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks and their impact on SEO.
Understanding of international SEO and hreflang implementation.
Basic knowledge of server-side elements such as hosting, CDN usage, and crawl budgets.
