Head of Marketing
New Today
We’re building a business fit for the AI era.
Over the last eight years, we’ve grown a respected, impactful, consulting practice - providing sector expert, street smart, and hands-on support to clients in and around the public sector.
Over the last 18 months, we’ve been reflecting on what our clients and markets will need from us over the next ten years – as they grapple with an increasingly complex, changing world, including not least coming wave of AI disruption and opportunity.
We won’t set out all of those changes in detail here – but can give you a preview in the later stages of the selection process. What we can say is that we’re building a very different kind of professional services business; one that is more global, more connected, more digital, and more sophisticated than the term ‘consulting’ conveys – even when it’s been us doing the consulting.
One thing that won’t be changing is our expectations of our people. We want the best. We want people with huge ambition for themselves, and their clients – and an appetite for work to match.
To brilliantly execute our rebrand, and leverage it to drive progress toward our ambitions for the business, we’re creating a new, dedicated, marketing and networking role.
We’re looking for someone with the combination of comms and marketing expertise required to lead a sustained, savvy, brand-building effort which delivers measurable impacts on our revenue, reputation and relationships.
Role specification
We’re looking for colleagues who share our values and our high expectations of everything we do.
- Development and implementation of a detailed, diverse, and imaginative programme of digital and social marketing activities including not least ownership of the firm’s website, LinkedIn presence, and any other social media accounts we agree to operate.
- Collaboration with colleagues across, and potentially beyond, the firm to prepare substantive pieces of thought leadership on the topics and themes that we believe resonate most impactfully with our customers given their policy and operating context.
- Identification of the events, forums, and other networks at / through which the firm should be represented; and personal representation of the firm through them – including, crucially, the initiation of conversations with prospective new partners and client.
- Engagement with, and maintenance of productive, outcome-focused, relationships with partner organisations which share the firm’s sector interests, and with which we might work to prepare thought leadership, develop new products, or meet client consulting requirements.
- Development and maintenance of a detailed activity plan, summarising the combination of marketing content, thought leadership, events, networks, and other activities involved in the successful execution of the brand-building effort.
- Close collaboration with the firm’s market (sales) teams, to ensure that policy and partnership activities are aligned with, and directly support, the firm’s immediate term sales efforts; and, to continuously monitor and evolve policy and partnership plans to reflect firm priorities.
- Preparation of market, segment, and individual client organisation-level research to support the development and execution of the brand-building effort; and to support market team’s more immediate term sales and formal tendering activities.
- Support, coaching and training for more junior colleagues across the firm to help them build their personal brand; marketing and comms capabilities; and, to develop their personal networks through e.g. attendance at events, and participation in networks.
Person specification
- High levels of ambition, energy and resilience, consistent with the firm’s plans for growth, including the implications of that growth for the evolution of this role.
- Experience and enjoyment working in an acutely entrepreneurial, commercial and creative organisational context to deliver consistently high-quality work, and drive growth.
- Experience working directly with / to senior leaders in a dynamic, fast-faced, commercial environment to translate strategic direction into operational action.
- Experience working independently to deliver successfully against a substantial and diverse set of accountabilities for marketing, comms and policy work.
- Domain expertise in at least one of policy, comms and / or digital marketing – ideally working in one of the sectors which the firm is focused on.
- High levels of precision and presentational pride with respect to work product of all kinds.
Working location
At least two days / week based in the firm’s Farringdon office.
Package
- Basic salary from £60,000 to £80,000 p.a.
