OverviewRole Purpose: The National Portrait Gallery hosts approximately 150 ‘out of hours’ events per year, including internal events, corporate partner and sponsor bookings and private venue hires. Reporting to the Head of Events, the Events Sales and Marketing Manager will be responsible for maximising sales of the public spaces for events, meeting ambitious sales targets through the design and delivery of a Commercial Events sales and marketing plan. The role will play a key part in maximising unrestricted income growth at this crucial time for the Gallery.ResponsibilitiesReceive, oversee and analyse incoming enquiries by phone and email, ensuring clients are responded to promptly and efficiently, and convert enquiries to confirmed events by promoting the NPG as an events space.Take on an ambassador role for events in the Gallery, seeking out new partners and clients in a proactive and strategic manner.Assess client and event suitability while being mindful of the Gallery’s brand, availability, policies and procedures; work with the Prospect Researcher and Head of Governance to assess potentially complex enquiries.With the Head of Events, develop and implement the marketing plan, and lead on agreed sales and marketing initiatives as required.Manage the marketing budget, ensuring that marketing events provide value for money and maximise return on investment.Collaborate with the Gallery’s approved supplier lists to implement new business development initiatives and maximise reach to their networks, while promoting up-sells offered by suppliers where appropriate.Actively promote the National Portrait Gallery venue hire facilities and attraction as a commercial venue to secure events suited to the brand and to build and maintain a high-calibre reputation and premier position in the events marketplace.Administer the space booking system (Artifax) to optimise use of available space, liaising with external and internal departments to determine the best use of space.RequirementsSkillsExcellent strategic planning and project management skillsEfficient and organised with excellent time management skillsPositive and enthusiastic approach to working with other organizations and individualsSkilled networker with the ability to act as an ambassador for the GalleryAmbitious and driven to achieve sales and to meet revenue targetsA collaborative and proactive team member, inspiring colleagues and clients to grow the businessThe ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a teamExcellent customer care and understanding of customer serviceProfessional Expertise and ExperiencePrevious event sales experience is essential, preferably in a unique venueProven experience of sales and marketing, including experience of negotiatingProven track record of business development, strategic planning and building a pipeline of prospectsExperience of working within defined brand guidelinesStrong IT and digital media skillsStrong financial and commercial acumenKnowledge of the events industry and industry suppliersExperience using a diary management systemNational Museum Directors' Council, Tate Britain, Millbank, London SW1P 4RG. #J-18808-Ljbffr
