ADA(S) seeks a freelance Administrator & Marketing Co-ordinator to support admin, communications and fundraising, promoting audio description for blind and partially sighted audiences.
Role details
- Contract: Freelance, fixed term (until March 2026)
- Hours: 8 hours per week (with occasional attendance at events)
- Pay: £20 per hour (£160 per week), paid monthly on invoice, plus agreed expenses
- Location: Remote, with some travel to events
Responsibilities
- Administration
- Responding to email enquiries
- General administrative tasks to support smooth running of the charity
- Managing membership subscriptions
- Acting as a link between ADA(S) members and audio describers
- Co-ordinating training courses (including administration, materials, and evaluations)
- Maintaining records of audio description equipment (location, loans, and maintenance)
- Working with the Treasurer to process invoices
- Marketing
- Promoting ADA(S) via social media channels
- Raising awareness of audio description among organisations supporting blind and partially sighted people
- Building relationships with venues and event organisers to encourage use of audio description
- Take responsibility for updating the ADA(S) website, including supporting the launch and ongoing maintenance of a new site
- Attending events to represent ADA(S) and promote audio description
- Fundraising
- Identify and research potential funding opportunities
- Prepare and submit funding applications in collaboration with the committee
- Support the charity’s long-term sustainability through fundraising initiatives
About you
- Highly organised and reliable
- Confident using social media and digital tools
- Comfortable working independently and remotely
- A clear communicator, with good written skills
- Enthusiastic about promoting access and inclusion for blind and partially sighted audiences
Audio Description Association (Scotland) has members who work in theatres across the country, describing performances and enhancing the enjoyment of some of these people.
Important information
This is a freelance position. You will be responsible for managing your own tax and National Insurance contributions through HMRC.
